Strażacki.pl – a nationwide information portal for emergency services
An advanced, multi-module social and information portal built for one of the largest fire service communities in Poland. The project included full system implementation, content architecture, layout, backend, and functional extensions – from user management to forum and store integration.
Project Description
For the strazacki.pl portal, I created a complete Joomla-based web ecosystem with proprietary extensions and modules. The system had to support thousands of active users, a large amount of multimedia content, and a comprehensive editorial panel.
My work included:
System architecture & development
- Design and coding of the complete layout (HTML, CSS, JS, RWD),
- Implementation of a multi-module Joomla portal (MVC),
- Creation of proprietary components, modules, and plugins,
- Integration of the user forum with portal accounts (SSO),
- Integration of the portal with a fire service merchandise store,
- Login, registration, and profile editing.
Community Modules
- A system for reporting incident materials: photos, videos, and descriptions.
- A mechanism for moderation, queue, and content approval requests.
- An extensive editor panel with assignments to specific departments.
- User activity ranking (gamification).
Portal Features
- A multi-level, nested category structure.
- A weather warning and alert module.
- A firefighter shift calendar (duty schedule).
- A recruitment form for new editors.
- FAQ section, news, and notifications.
Backend & Infrastructure
- Performance optimizations (cache, database, compression, query minimization).
- Improved portal security.
- Server and production environment configuration.
- Functional and load testing.
The entire system created a coherent, efficient, and scalable portal combining information, social media, and e-commerce functions – built from the ground up and tailored to the specific needs of the emergency response environment.
